The remediation process was completed earlier in 2018. Currently, the project’s Risk Assessment and Record of Site Condition are being finalized. Internal roadway construction and servicing is also underway. The plan for the project is a mixed-use development consisting of both residential and retail space.
The former landfill site had plenty of potential. Due to the growing need for both residential and retail space, the right development company was needed to assist in remediating and developing the property. LANDx Development’s experience on large remediation projects made us the ideal development company to assist the owners of the project. Our experience in preparing and submitting various planning and development applications has aided the ongoing approvals process. Our project management services include directing and overseeing for all teams working on the project to avoid duplication of work, decrease project timelines, and support the goals and objectives of ownership.
The Kitchener area is a strong location for this development, as it is advantageously situated between Toronto, London and Hamilton. Close to schools, such as the Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of Waterloo, University of Guelph, and McMaster University in Hamilton make Kitchener a popular location among young adults. The city also conveniently has access to transit systems, including the newly implemented Regional Light Rail Transit (LRT) system, as well as GO and VIA rail service. The City of Kitchener is currently experiencing a wave of economic development and rebirth, of which this key mixed-use development aims to be a part of.
